Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30th May 2026
SavvySamplez (savvysamplez.co.uk) is run as a personal project by an individual based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Please read this policy carefully. By using this site you acknowledge that you have read and understood it.
Who We Are
SavvySamplez is operated as an unregistered personal project based in the United Kingdom. We are not a registered company.
For all privacy-related enquiries, contact us at: [admin@savvysamplez.co.uk]
As we are a small personal project with no formal legal entity, we act as the data controller for any personal data collected through this website.
What Data We Collect and Why
1. Analytics Data (Google Analytics 4)
What we collect: Anonymised information about how visitors use the site — pages visited, time spent, general location (country/region level), device type, browser, and how you arrived at the site (e.g. from a search engine or social media).
Why we collect it: To understand which content is useful, how the site performs, and where we can improve the experience for UK bargain hunters.
Legal basis:Consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). We only activate Google Analytics after you accept cookies via our cookie consent banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" in the site footer.
Who processes it: Google Ireland Limited, acting as a data processor on our behalf. Google may transfer data outside the UK. Google Analytics 4 is configured with IP anonymisation enabled. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Retention: Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
2. Deal Submission Form (/submit)
What we collect: Any information you choose to submit through our deal submission form, which may include your name, email address, and details of a deal or offer you want to share.
Why we collect it: To review and potentially publish deals submitted by the community, and to follow up with you if we need further information about your submission.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — processing submissions is necessary to operate the community deal-sharing feature of this site. We only use submission data to review and act on your submission.
Storage: Submissions are stored in our content management system (Sanity, operated by Sanity.io). We do not share submission data with third parties for marketing purposes. We delete submissions that are not progressed to publication within a reasonable timeframe.
Who processes it: Sanity.io. For details, see Sanity's Privacy Policy.
3. Email Newsletter
What we collect: Your email address, and optionally your name, when you sign up for our newsletter.
Why we collect it: To send you updates about new deals, freebies, and free samples that we think will be useful to you.
Legal basis: Consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email we send. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.
Who processes it: We use a third-party email marketing platform to manage our mailing list. [PLATFORM NAME AND LINK TO BE ADDED WHEN CONFIRMED.] That platform acts as a data processor on our behalf and processes your email address on our instructions only.
Retention:We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. On unsubscribing, your data will be removed from our active mailing list within a reasonable period in line with our email platform's processes.
4. Affiliate Links (Planned)
We intend to use affiliate links on this site in future. This means that when you click certain deal links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission from the retailer at no extra cost to you. We will clearly disclose when a link is an affiliate link.
Clicking an affiliate link may result in the retailer or affiliate network setting their own cookies on your device. We do not control those cookies — please refer to the relevant retailer's or network's own privacy policy for details.
We will update this policy before affiliate links go live.
Cookies
We use the following categories of cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent choice (accepted/declined) | 1 year (localStorage) |
_ga, _ga_XXXXXXX | Google Analytics — only set after consent | 13 months |
We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking cookies, or any cookies that track you across other websites.
You can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" in the footer of this site. You can also clear cookies through your browser settings.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
We share data only with the third-party services listed in this policy (Google Analytics, Sanity, our email platform) who act as data processors under our instructions. We do not share your data with any other third parties unless required to do so by law.
International Transfers
Some of our data processors (including Google) may transfer and process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK GDPR — for example, Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms.
Data Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:
- Analytics data: 14 months (Google Analytics default)
- Deal submissions: Until reviewed and either published or deleted; we aim to clear unpublished submissions regularly
- Newsletter subscribers: Until you unsubscribe
- Cookie consent record: Stored locally in your browser for up to 1 year
