Cashback, loyalty points and voucher code safety

Cashback sites, loyalty schemes and voucher codes can save you real money — if you use them correctly.

How cashback sites work

Cashback sites earn a commission from retailers when you make a purchase through their tracked link, and share a portion of that commission with you. Legitimate cashback sites active in the UK include TopCashback and Quidco. Always start your shopping session from the cashback site and avoid opening the retailer in another tab, as this can break the tracking and forfeit your cashback.

Using voucher codes safely

Only use voucher codes from sources you trust. Some voucher code websites list expired or unofficial codes that do not work, and others use affiliate links in a way that may interfere with your cashback tracking. Always check the code terms — many are restricted to new customers, exclude sale items, or require a minimum spend.

Getting genuine value from loyalty points

Loyalty points have a real cash value, but it varies significantly between schemes and redemption options. Tesco Clubcard vouchers, Nectar points and Avios can all deliver strong value in the right context, but some redemption routes offer much better rates than others. Collect points on purchases you would make anyway, and redeem them thoughtfully rather than letting them expire unused.
